Many of us are hearing a noble calling
Many of us are hearing a noble calling and are answering this with our hearts. We are reaching a level of higher consciousness and authenticity. We see with more clarity and feel more connected to the Whole, an all-pervasive Love. We do so with genuine gratitude and humility and are ready to put our entire being toward serving the greater good. Several are tempted to give up our regular source of income and are searching for ways to heal, help the further evolution of the Universe, alleviate suffering, or otherwise express our new consciousness and desire to serve.
Wondering why you are called
Regardless of all the enlightenment and bliss, this can be a tough path. Not everybody succeeds in making a living as newfound spiritual teacher, life coach, healer, yoga instructor, author or whatever. The rest is likely to feel stuck, wondering why they were called but can’t find their niche in service of the Universe. Why is this?
First, there are just too many that want a slice of a cake that is too small at this point in time and place. Secondly, the anguish may be in the search itself and the expectations that come with it. The enhanced consciousness may be real, but has not settled in completely as of yet. It is not accompanied by the (conscious) release of ego that is necessary to fully evolve. Peak consciousness or the cognition of that, is not the same as intrinsic consciousness. This takes time, courage and a tireless letting go. More than a few classes, trips, workshops and a few years of suffering are needed. The other ingredient that’s essential only comes from mundane spiritual practice in the real world, day in and day out. The goal of this practice is the release of most ego and learning how to see your ego as a tool you need to function in your physical life.
The Universe never guaranteed you a job
Dear fellow travelers, let me remind you that the Universe never guaranteed you a job in reward of your spiritual growth spurt. You signed up to come into this world to use every situation in your life to become more conscious and more free. The Universe offers you that opportunity day in and day out, with lots of compassion and tough love, however, it doesn’t offer jobs or book contracts.
Nevertheless, if we really want change, there is a way. When we are perfectly at ease with what is, when we have let go of those attachments, that’s when transformation will happen. Release our expectations and hone the ability to be with what is. Have our visions and dreams, but don’t attach to them. There is nothing to judge or make wrong. And so we are not failing in our perceived task to help heal the world. That’s when we open up to further growth and the universe will transform around us to make more possible. The universe wants us to have it all, but it never specified when.
So what is our task on this planet?
It simply is to work on the above without judging our performance or the situation. Of course all this is easier said than done. Try it with integrity and a bit of humor. When we allow for appropriate lightheartedness and openness, the Universe will guide us. We can practice listening to our intuition, and again, don’t judge, if we aren’t clear or don’t seem to get it right. And in the mean time, if that spiritual coaching job hasn’t panned out yet, our task is simply to be the best we can be where we are at that moment doing what we are doing. Our real contribution is in the presence of our gentle being.
